More Milking News

I understand that we are to be given more help and guidance about milking. This is encouraging news. Of course, it would be better still if most of the milking could be taken away from us poor shepherds and from all the other non-dairy workers on the farm. I think the vets do very little milking themselves, they rely on their assistants. You can go far with a medical training.

Less encouraging, new recruits to the farm will have to go to the mother homestead in a different county for some sort of induction that will include observing how to deal with customers. They may even have to engage in some role playing. I anticipate some new shepherds not taking too kindly to this. They are already highly trained in the skills they need to undertake their duties with appropriate professionalism and respect for their flock. We role played sheep - I mean no disrespect here, but I have tied myself into this allegorical tale now - during our training and I was pretty convincing, if a bit challenging at times. The ramifications do not bear thinking about.
