There were long faces down by the cattle trough this week, and not just those of the horses. Another organisational change cloud has cast its dark shadow, this time affecting all the administrators currently scattered like fine seed thoughout the farming community. The plan is to concentrate them in a couple of strategically placed barns and to require them all to re-apply for their jobs.
There is something very sad about an organisation that manages to alienate and lose the goodwill of some of the lowest paid workers on the farm who have chosen to work in a role that brings satisfaction and meaning through being a member of a team and contributing to the welfare of all. It is not about typing, form-filling and data inputting - it is about relationships with our clients who often need a kind word, it is about being a fount of all knowledge for other harassed workers, it is about humanity. Administrators are the beating heart of every team, and like a heart cannot function as an entity separated from the body - and vice-versa of course.

The cost of a Knighthood is of no consequence to those who are prepared to stand upon the bones of others.
